ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Brandon - I'm a Sound Designer, Composer, Mix Engineer and Musician with 10 years of full-time professional experience in audio/music working mainly in the realms of trailers, promos, commercials, sonic branding, podcasts and feature length films. 

I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa and currently live in South Florida, USA with my beautiful wife. 

I am fascinated with the power that music and sound has in storytelling. 

I’m currently a full-time sound designer/composer for Defacto Sound - a sound design agency dedicated to making your commercials, trailers, games, promos and so much more sound insanely cool! I've been a member of the team at Defacto Sound since 2022. 

We also produce one of my long-time favorite podcasts, ‘Twenty Thousand Hertz’ - we tell the stories behind the world’s most interesting sounds, we also have a Youtube channel under the channel name  "DallasTaylor.mp3". 

Previously, I had worked for sound design/custom composition agency Audio Militia based in Johannesburg, South Africa (2016 - 2021). 

As a sound designer/mix engineer, I have worked on 1000’s of trailers/promos/commercials as well as sonic branding for some of the worlds biggest, most recognizable brands. 

I’ve also composed original music for 12 different advertising campaigns. 

I’ve worked on 4 feature length films, 3 cartoon series, 4 Short films, 3 multi-episode Podcast shows, and 1 game.

Many of the projects I’ve worked on have won or been nominated for Webby, Promax & Loeries Advertising Awards.

In 2022 I was incredibly fortunate and honored to have placed 2nd (having previously placed 14th in 2020) in the “Sound Design” category of the Loerie Awards Rankings - which is comprised of the entire African Continent and the Middle East. 

I also have over a decade of live sound mixing experience and am currently the broadcast audio mixer for Journey Church in Lake Worth, Florida, USA; I mix their Sunday morning services for their ‘Church Online’ platforms. 

I love this medium because it so beautifully combines the worlds of live and studio sound.

For close to a decade I was one of the principal FOH Sound Engineers at Riverside Community Church, Johannesburg, South Africa; mixing everything from Sunday morning services to special events. 

In my spare time, and as a side hustle of sorts, I've been fortunate to record, mix and master many talented bands/artists. 

As a musician, I’ve had the great honor of being a member of many great bands but I am most well known as the lead singer & frontman of the band, Red Helen.
